The Route
8:00 AM Hotel Pickup
We start our adventure with an early morning pickup directly from your accommodation in San Pedro de Atacama, heading east into the Andes.
9:30 AM Licancabur Viewpoint
We make our first strategic stop to acclimatize and take in the panoramic views of the iconic Licancabur volcano dominating the horizon.
11:00 AM Monjes de la Pacana & Salt Flats
Explore impressive stone formations carved by the wind known as the Pacana Monks, before arriving at the spectacular Aguas Calientes salt flat.
1:00 PM High-Altitude Lunch
Enjoy a prepared meal surrounded by the surreal, silent landscape of the Andean salt flats and lagoons.
4:00 PM Return to San Pedro
We begin our descent back to town, arriving safely in San Pedro de Atacama to conclude the expedition.

Frequent Questions
Is this tour affected by high altitude?
Yes. The Ruta de los Salares reaches elevations of up to 4,800 meters (15,748 ft). It is highly recommended to acclimatize in San Pedro de Atacama for at least a couple of days before taking this tour. Drink plenty of water and avoid alcohol the night before.
What should I wear?
The weather in the Altiplano is very unpredictable. We recommend dressing in layers (onion style). You will need a windbreaker or warm jacket, comfortable closed-toe walking shoes, sunglasses, and a hat.
Are entrance fees included?
No, entrance fees to the parks or indigenous communities (if applicable during the route stops) are generally paid directly in cash (Chilean Pesos) on the day of the tour.
