The Route
Departure Leaving San Pedro
Pickup directly from your accommodation. We venture out toward the rugged Cordillera de la Sal, witnessing the desert landscapes shift around us as we approach the salt flats.
Arrival Lagunas de Baltinache
Arrive at the hidden lagoons. We will walk along the pristine pathways connecting the seven distinct turquoise pools, learning about the geological formations along the way.
Experience Floating Experience
Take a dip in the designated lagoons. Experience gravity-defying floating in waters denser than the Dead Sea. Take in the surrounding white salt crystals contrasting against the vibrant water.
Refresh Showers & Snack
Rinse the thick salt layers off at the basic outdoor showers provided at the facility. Enjoy a light snack and refreshments as we take in the sweeping panoramic views.
Return Back to Town
Arrival back in the center of San Pedro de Atacama, concluding the half-day excursion.

Can I swim in all seven lagoons?
No, for strict conservation reasons to protect the delicate ecosystem, swimming and floating is only permitted in the first and last lagoons. The others are strictly for observation and photography.
Are there showers to wash the salt off?
Yes, there are basic outdoor showers on-site to help you rinse off the heavy salt layer before heading back to the van. The water is cold, but very refreshing!
How much is the entrance fee?
The entrance fee to Baltinache is approximately 10,000 CLP per person. It must be paid in cash upon arrival, so please ensure you bring Chilean Pesos with you.
